Job summary
We are excited to offer a rare opening for a 10 PA Specialty Doctor/Psychiatrist to work at Collingham Child and Family Centre (CNWL), a highly regarded National children's CAMHS inpatient unit in Central London. Collingham is a specialist inpatient mental health unit for children under 13 years old. As one of only 6 units of its kind in the UK commissioned by NHS England, the unit provides intensive assessment and treatment for children with mental disorders that require hospital admission. It offers inpatient provision for up to 8 children and is part of the National netowkr of T4 CAMHS inpatient units for children who reside in Greater London and the South of England. The service is accredited with the Quality Netowrk for Inpatient CAMHS (QNIC). The team includes psychiatrists, nurses, family therapists, psychologists, speech and language therapist, occupational therapists, social worker, dietitian, pharmacist, health care assistants, administration staff and teachers. During their time at Collingham, children attend the unit school and take part in a variety of therapeutic activities. Parents attend weekly family therapy sessions and other meetings and activities in the unit.

Main duties of the job
The postholder will be expected to provide psychiatry input, supporting the fulltime Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, alongside the psychiatry team (higher CAMHS trainee and Foundation Year doctor), to provide dedicated, high quality medical care and treatment for young people and their families presenting with a range of mental health issues and neurodevelopmental conditions. The postholder will be expected to support the MDT with regard to psychiatry care, guided by evidence-based assessment and treatment.

Central and North West London (CNWL) specialises in caring for people with a wide range of mental and physical health needs and is one of the largest mental health trusts in England. Each CAMHS service has its own local management structure: Harrow CAMHS has a Lead Psychiatrist, Therapies lead and team manager who work closely with the outer boroughs service manager. Each sub-team has a psychiatry and therapy lead and they, together with the team and service manager form the local senior management team which meets monthly. The postholder will be part of the SMT. The Harrow CAMHS team is well established and staffed by a large multi-disciplinary team of clinicians. We aim to provide an accessible, flexible and responsive local service for patients and professionals working with children in the area using a range of therapeutic interventions including behaviour, systemic, CBT, IPT-A, DBT, psycho-dynamic and group therapies as well as psychopharmacological approaches. Harrow CAMHS is a Tier 3 service, accepting referrals from GPs, paediatrics, schools and Children's Services. The service has active service user groups for young people and parents. The team has a monthly CPD session and local care quality meeting, a doctors meeting twice a month which includes peer group case discussions, a weekly local consultants meeting and a monthly senior management meeting which the postholder will be part of.

- To undertake psychiatry assessments of young people and families referred to Collingham Child and Family Centre, devise formulations and care plans and provide interventions/treatments.
- To contribute to the clerking and assessment on admission for inpatient children, including consideration of the legal framework for admission, mental state examination, risk assessment and physical examination of the child.
- To provide medication treatment and therapy appropriate to level of training and experience under the supervision of the Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist
- To contribute to assessments under the Mental Health Act.
- To contribute to the discharge process of inpatient children, including use of outcome measures, clinical coding and ensuring safe discharge planning.
- To communicate medical/psychiatry issues effectively within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) and contribute to MDT meetings (e.g. ward rounds, CPA/review meetings,.)
- To liaise with community professionals (e.g. community CAMHS, school, social care, others) and with medical colleagues (e.g. GPs, A&E, Paediatricians, etc), and attend professionals meetings, as required per the childs care.
- To ensure good record keeping and clinical documentation of assessments,interventions, and liaison, as per GMC guidance, and to contribute to reports/correspondence as outlined in the clinical protocol of the service.
