Job summary
The post holder will operationally manage the Primary Care provision at HMP Woodhill to ensure an equitable service to that available in the community. The post holder is responsible for Clinical Leadership in primary care and public health and ensuring that the highest quality, evidence-based services are provided.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be an experienced healthcare professional within primary care services who also has excellent staff management skills. They will support the Head of Healthcare to manage and develop the Primary Care team to achieve a targeted and appropriate service, delivered in accordance with evidence-based practice and local policies and procedures.
The post holder will proactively manage and lead the Primary Care team to further develop services such as long-term condition management; nurse led minor ailment clinics, sexual health clinics and immunisation programmes, national screening programmes and health promotion initiatives.
The post holder will work closely with the Head of Healthcare to develop and implement an effective Primary care Strategy for HMP Woodhill.
There will be occasions when the post holder will be expected to deputise for the Head of Healthcare in his/her absence.

Act as Professional Lead and provide support to all members of the Healthcare team
Working with the Wellbeing Team assume operational responsibility for Healthcare services making autonomous decisions where necessary to ensure the effective delivery of services
Be responsible for setting the professional standards expected from team members communicating this to them and monitoring these
Represent the Healthcare Department in other forums including multi-agency groups, initiating and leading these where required
Provide cover in the absence of the Head of Healthcare, acting up as the operational manager if required
Undertake duties as part of the managers on call rota
Be aware and comply with the relevant Code of Professional Conduct and ensure qualified staff work within their Professional Code of Conduct
Be responsible to keep up to date with national and local issues and lead on implementation of service developments within HJS.
Work collaboratively with domestic teams/services to ensure a safe, clean environment is maintained
Ensure infection prevention and control practices and policies are implemented and adhered to
Ensure monthly monitoring of HCAI rates, standards of cleanliness and hand hygiene audits are carried out and data is made available for quarterly reporting to the Trust Board.
Manage work load based on flexible principals and to be able to prioritise care based on skill mix available
Investigate and respond to complaints, litigation claims and queries from patients, staff or other external agencies
Investigate and respond to Datix incident reports and complete a monthly report for the Head of Healthcare
