Job summary
The post holder is primarily responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for all aspects of the HR and People function at QTS. You will be responsible for leading on the delivery of a high-performing, values-driven service that supports QTS's commercial ambitions, ensures the right workforce capability, and drives employee engagement, inclusion, and performance. This is a pivotal role in shaping a positive working culture, ensuring compliance, and building the HR systems and processes necessary for QTS to grow as a leading provider of operational and strategic estates and facilities services.
Main duties of the job
Operational HR Management
- Responsible for the line management of the QTS HR & People team and subsequently ensuring the delivery of a proactive and professional service by the function to all QTS staff.
- Fosters a team culture that values partnership working, responsiveness, and continuous learning.
- Ensures the provision of a consistent, efficient, and high-quality HR and People service across the QTS employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance, development, and exit.
- Oversees the production of, and adherence to, QTS's HR & People policies, procedures, and employee handbooks, in conjunction with the HR Business Manager.
- Oversight for ensuring the timely management of employee relations (ER) cases, ensuring timely and legally compliant outcomes that balance fairness and organisational needs.
- Able to independently produce job descriptions and person specifications for all levels of the organisation, and develop others ability to do so.
- Works closely with the QTS HR Business Manager to monitor and report on key workforce KPIs and metrics. Including, but limited to, sickness absence, establishment profile, turnover, time to hire, and staff engagement.
- Lead on internal audits and responds to external regulatory reviews and freedom of information (FOI) requests related to the QTS HR & people function.

- Leads on the development and delivery of QTSs HR & People plan seeking to support QTSs current and future goals and priorities, whilst responding to feedback from the QTS Annual Staff Survey.
- Acts as a trusted adviser to the QTS team, but primarily the QTS Directors, Deputy Directors and Associate Directors, supporting them with all HR and People-related reporting and aspects of business planning and transformation. In particular, in relation to the organisations design, structure and senior succession planning.
