Job summary

We have a fantastic opportunity for dynamic, enthusiastic and highly motivated dietitian to join CNWL to work in the Community Children's Nursing Team in Hillingdon. This is an ideal post for a dietitian with experience in nutritional support who wants to develop clinical skills working with children and young people living in the community with a feeding tube.

The post holder will be responsible for providing specialist dietetic advice and support to a complex caseload of enterally fed infants, children, young people and their parents/carers in a range of settings including patients' homes, special need schools, respite care and clinics. You will work alongside healthcare professionals within the acute and community sectors, education and social services to assess, treat and safeguard children in your care.

The post holder will be supported by the current Band 7 dietitian and managed by Clinical manager for Community Children's Nursing Team. Continuing professional development is actively supported via clinical supervision, yearly appraisal, in-house training and monthly in-service training.

Successful applicants must be able to travel throughout Hillingdon in order to carry out home visits in the community.

Main duties of the job

This post has a high degree of autonomy and is responsible for the highly specialist clinical assessment and ongoing dietetic management of children with a number of different clinical conditions; receiving enteral nutrition within a community setting. Conditions e.g. include complex permanent disabilities, life-limiting conditions and challenging behaviours.

To provide therapeutic dietetic care to clients in a range of venues across Hillingdon including clinics, children's own homes, mainstream, special schools and respite/short breaks.

To act as a source of clinical expertise/advice and guidance for children's families, carers and the multi-disciplinary team.

To raise nutritional awareness and promote the benefits of Paediatric Dietetic services with respect to children both within and outside of the organisation

To be able to work independently and manage a significant clinical caseload.
