Job summary

A development opportunity has arisen for a Health Promotion Outreach Worker within the Surrey Sexual Health Outreach Team whose role is to extend the provision of sexual health services into the wider communities.

This is a development post for a Sexual Health Promotion Outreach Worker. The post holder will follow an individual training programme to develop their sexual health promotion knowledge from Band 4 Sexual Health Promotion Outreach Worker to Band 5 Sexual Health Promotion Outreach Worker through practical, real time, on the job experience training.

The health promotion model has been developed in conjunction with Public Health to ensure it targets Surrey communities and populations most at risk of sexual ill health including young people under 25, Black and minority ethnic communities, Sex workers, Men who have sex with men including ChemSex, People with disabilities and transgender communities.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for delivering health promotion, outreach services, Surrey Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea screening programme and Condom Distribution Service for under 25s. This post is permanent, based in Woking and providing outreach services across Surrey.

The service operates in partnership with other commissioned community sexual health support in Pharmacies, General Practice and the Third Sector and complements clinic based work. The post holder would provide training sessions to groups of staff and other professionals and awareness raising sessions to young people.

Candidates should have experience in Health Promotion and or Sexual Health Services. The post holder would work regular hours with flexibility to work very occasional evenings and weekends (to cover specific events).
