An opportunity has become available for Registered Nursing Associate to develop their expertise in a specialist Eating Disorder Service, based in Vincent Square Clinic which is a 14 bed specialist eating disorder service centrally located in Chelsea.
In this role you will work closely with patients diagnosed with an eating disorder, their families, friends and carers. Band 4 Nursing Associates are expected to:
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and be accountable to the registered nurses they work with
- Be accountable as professionals registered with the NMC and work to the Code for Nurses, Midwives and Nursing Associates
- Promote health and prevent ill health
- Provide and monitor care
- Work to improve safety and the quality of care
Main duties of the job
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and be accountable to the registered nurses you work with.
Typical tasks for this role are: You will assist with the processing of new admissions to the inpatient ward. You will participate in the assessment, planning and providing of clinical interventions relevant to the patient group such as: completing vital observations, ECG's and Venepuncture, Supporting Key Work and attending MDT meetings. You will work alongside registered nurses, supporting you in your role. You will assist with patient reviews and participate in supporting clients to improve their physical and mental health.
As a Nursing Associate, you may be expected to practice any of the skills listed in the NMC Standards of Proficiency skills annexes or be responsible for the care delivered to a number of service users but you will always be supervised by a registered nurse and receive support from the wider multi-disciplinary team. We believe that the best health care is delivered by multi-disciplinary teams working well together and in partnership with other teams and services to provide seamless care.

Experience of working with Eating Disorders is desirable but not essential for this post as we will provide an orientation program to adapt your skills and abilities to this speciality.
We also know that working in Eating Disorders is a specialist and demanding area. We know you will need to develop skills and abilities as part of your professional development which is why we have regular teaching sessions, regular reflective practice and access to training opportunities such as positive behaviour support (PBS), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).
