Job summary
To assess, plan and implement specialist care for a caseload of patients with moderate to severe mental health difficulties.
The post holder will hold their own caseload, supported by the Nurse Consultant and work closely with all other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
A key role is being part of liaison and joint working with other professionals, especially members of CAMHS, Paediatric/General wards, General Practice, LEA/schools, residential units and Adult Mental Health to maintain effective continuity of care and to widen awareness of the complexities involved in the management and treatment of children and young people.
Main duties of the job
Monitor and be responsible for delivering a variety of care with evidence based treatment interventions, on a one-to-one and group basis as deemed appropriate to the service area.

Be familiar with, and ensure implementation of all local, regional and national policies, procedures and guidelines pertinent to all staff within the area of responsibility and comply with their contents in the pursuit of the highest standards of patient care.
Be familiar with and where appropriate, apply all mental health, community care and child protection legislation as necessary. Take responsibility for own professional development, revalidation and participate in continuing education relevant to THE core profession as well as specialist area.
Participate in service audit.
Establish and maintain positive links with GPs, Paediatric/General wards, LEA/schools, residential units and Adult Mental Health, to ensure seamless short, medium and long term care planning for medical and psychological management of each individual patient.
Comply with and implement as far as is practicable the NICE Guidelines.
