An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Camden School Nursing Service to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic band 3 staff member to work alongside Healthy Lifestyles Practitioners and School Nurses to prevent and address childhood obesity by supporting healthy lifestyles for families.
This role is suitable for someone in the field of nutrition who is looking to work and gain experience with CYP and families.
Main duties of the job
The role will entail:
- Facilitating the National Childhood Measuring Programme in Camden Schools.
- Following up children who are identified as obese and overweight from the National Childhood Measuring programme
- To work alongside the Health Lifestyles Practitioners in supporting children and families to address identified childhood obesity and adopt healthy lifestyles. .
- Supporting the school nursing service in delivering a range of child centred public health activities which promote healthy lifestyles and nutrition to a diverse school aged population and their families.
- Clinical duties in school and other community settings to contribute to a plan of care using motivational interviewing, negotiating and empathic skills to follow up and persuade children and young people to develop and maintain healthy lifestyles behaviour.
- Facilitating optimum uptake of the service by promoting an awareness of the healthy lifestyles outreach service amongst school aged children, parents/carers, educational staff and other professionals.
- Administrative duties are required and therefore excellent organisation and IT skills will be essential.
