We have a Health and Justice Services Directorate, within which sits the 'Children and Young People' Service line working in partnership with 'Youth Custody Service' colleagues to provide trauma-informed primary care, mental health, neuro-developmental and substance misuse services to the young people and young adults within our care.

We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic RMN band 7 Team Leader to join our Integrated Healthcare Service at HMPYOI Feltham covering Feltham B.

Feltham is effectively two separate establishments delivering healthcare services to young people in Feltham A (15-19 years) and adults in Feltham B (18-30 years). These two cohorts have slightly different needs and we are looking for staff that understand this and work in line with 'Child First' principles. By joining our team, you will not only look after the healthcare needs of the young people we care for, but also have the opportunity to have a real impact on promoting health and well-being for this population.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be an experienced RMN professional who also has excellent staff management and leadership skills. The Nurse Practitioner in Wellbeing Team in HMYOI Feltham will be committed to providing mental healthcare services in custody, equivalent to those in the community. Post-holders will have broad experience of working in successful Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and will have a good understanding of what is required to deliver an effective mental health service for young people in a custodial setting.

The post holder will fully embrace the new SECURE STAIRS model, including participating in and co-delivering training, attending team Reflective Practice as a key part of the role, facilitating a therapeutic culture and activities on the units including Community Meetings, contributing to Formulations and, where appropriate, providing supervision to prison staff.

The post holder will work closely with the HWBT Service Lead to deliver and implement an effective Mental healthcare which meets the needs of the young people/young adults in our care in HMYOI Feltham..

Essential Requirement (List 3 key essential requirements rather than whole of Job Spec)

  1. Registered Mental Health Nurse
  2. Substantial post registration experience in Secure setting or an acute setting (Adul/CAMHS)
  3. Resident in UK for 3 years or longer
