Job summary

The purpose of a CAMHS Nurse, in the CAMHS Early Intervention Service, is to deliver a high standard of mental health nursing support to children, young people and their families who are experiencing the first signs of mental health difficulties.

You will provide early assessment, case management and treatment to a caseload of children and families. Whilst also providing consultation to various partnership agencies, both statutory and non-statutory, including Westminster's Early Help Teams- which is part of Westminster's Children's Services. In doing so, you will provide a much-valued link between these services and the local CAMHS service, and professionals to effectively recognise children's mental health difficulties, improve inter-agency collaboration in the provision of timely, accessible and responsive interventions.

The essence of the role of the CAMHS Nurse is to work together with front line services providing support to providers to increase the capacity to identify and manage children's mental health needs. This is provided through liaison, consultation, training and joint work between services.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be working across Westminster CAMHS Early Intervention service and Westminster Children's Service Early Help Teams providing consultation, mental health assessments and evidenced based mental health treatments to children, young people and their families in Westminster.

They will provide support to frontline children's services in developing their capacity in early identification and intervention with children's mental health need. Promoting the emotional and mental health of children, young people and their families in the community, facilitating appropriate access to specialist CAMHS and other relevant provision.

  • To assess, plan, implement and evaluate care in relation to the physical, psychological, emotional, social, occupational and spiritual needs of children and young people with mental health problems and their families, in accordance with the nursing process.

Education and Training
  • To utilise professional development opportunities provided by the Trust in order to achieve roles within the Scope of Professional Practice.
