Recruit to Train CBT Post within Brent or Hillingdon MHST.

One Year Fixed Term Contract/UCL training post.

CNWL Brent and Hillingdon Mental Health Support Teams are recruiting for an exciting opportunity to join one of these teams as a Recruit to Train CBT Trainee, part of the NHS England (NHSE) funded Recruit to Train Programme in partnership with Anna Freud, University College London, and Kings College London. The post-holder will be training on the Children & Young People Mental Health (CYP-MH/CYP IAPT) Therapy Course and carrying out clinical work in our service to complement their studies and use their newly developed skills. We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic mental health practitioners to work and train within our service. The training post will equip the post-holder to provide interventions for children, young people or families using evidence-based intervention consistent with the course they are attending. The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equity, diversity and inclusion.

Main duties of the job

  • To deliver under supervision, high-quality, brief outcome focused evidence-based group and individual interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties in and around schools. The post holder will be responsible for delivering clinical interventions within the MHST and will receive clinical supervision from the team's senior practitioner.
  • Promoting the mental and emotional health of children, young people and families in the community through evidenced based clinical interventions.
  • To undertake initial school based and community-based assessments and to deliver a range of early interventions to children and young people with a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • Contribute to the overall assessment, including risk assessment, of children and young people in terms of their mental health needs.
  • To offer support, advice, signposting and onward referral to children, professionals requesting advice.
  • To provide professional advice and consultation.
  • To provide education, advice, and practical support to young people and their families as well as brief therapeutic interventions.
  • To routinely measure clinical outcomes
  • To collect MHST data routinely
  • Liaise with professionals who are currently providing services to children and young people, such as those in primary care settings, children's services, education and others.
