Park Royal is proud to announce that we will be opening a BRAND NEW inpatient ward to complement our existing, AIMS accredited services at Park Royal Mental Health Centre.

This has opened up a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring Nurse to join theMatron team at Park Royal Mental Health Centre.

** Our new ward will be opening in early 2024 but we would like our new Matron to begin early and lead our interim service at The Kingswood Centre, NW9 9QY first before moving over to the new ward at Park Royal Mental Health Centre in early 2024. **

The position will provide the successful post holder with the opportunity to gain valuable experience at this level. You will also gain crucialexperience in a senior Nursing role within a large adult mental health acute unit.

CNWL recognises the ongoing pressures within the NHS and this new ward will create additional space and services for our patients to receive the inpatient care that they need to begin their recovery.

Main duties of the job

We want to attract an aspiring team leader or existing Matrons who want to be instrumental in promoting high standards of clinical care, reducing health inequalities and promoting equality for all. You will need to be a registered Mental Health nurse with significant experience at band 7 or above to be eligible to apply for this opportunity.

Clinical Practice Management

Objective: To act as a Clinical Leader with continuing clinical responsibility within the designated areas, ensuring that services provide high quality evidence-based nursing assessment, care planning, interventions and evaluations for patients.

This will include:

  • Confidential, sensitive and comprehensive, person-centred mental health nursing assessment that includes a risk assessment and care plan to people who present with mental health problems.
  • Contributing to the professional development and the clinical supervision of team members on a formal and regular basis to maintain and develop quality standards of practice in accordance with appropriate professional guidelines, Trust Policies and level of responsibility of the post.
  • Enable service users by providing accurate and appropriate information, offering choices and involving them as fully as possible in the care process.
  • To demonstrate a working knowledge of the key elements of relevant Mental Health Legislation.
  • Ensure the ordering, storage, administration and disposal of medication complies with relevant Trust and legislative guidance e.g. NMC Guidelines for the Administration of Medicines 2004, the Misuse of Drug Regulations 1985, the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and MHA (1983).
  • Demonstrate knowledge, experience and competence specific to the area of practice.
  • Enabling staff to use evidence-based strategies and person-centred/psychosocial interventions in the care and treatment of people with mental health problems.

  • Ensure all Serious Incidents are reported to the Service Director and Lead Clinician.
  • To ensure that all staff are familiar with all clinical and other policies and procedures operational within the Trust, and evidence this.
