Job summary
An opportunity to work and train in the KCW Under 5s Service has arisen as part of the Recruit to Train scheme.
This training post would commence in November 2024. Former EMHP and CWP graduates (or graduates from any other HEE funded course) need significant post-graduation experience to be eligible to apply (graduated by January 2020).
The KCW Under 5s Service is a specialist CAMHS service for children under the age of five, their parents, carers and for professionals working with this age group. The post holder will join the KCW Under 5s Team, working in children centres and remotely across the boroughs of Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster.
The service also has a base in K&C CAMHS and Westminster CAMHS. Launched in January 2017, the service aims to provide an accessible, destigmatising, culturally sensitive infant/young child and mental health perspective through
o Consultation to parents and professionals.
- Specialist assessment.
- Brief work with under 5s and their families using evidence-based treatment.
- Interagency partnership working.
The role requires a motivated, organised and enthusiastic professional to join a lively Under 5s clinical team.
Since this is a training position all candidates will need to apply for both the trainee role with our organisation and the UCL Post Graduate Diploma in Child and Young Person IAPT Therapy in order to be shortlisted.

Main duties of the job
This is a Fix Term post with this training year funded by NHSE. After successful completion of the course the fixed term training contract will end however applicants would be encouraged to apply for any vacant posts within the service and will be provided support and advice in job applications. You will continue your employment within the service using the new skills you have developed.
This role will be best suited for applicants that are able to balance a very busy work and study schedule. You will be an employee at the service but also enrolled on a Postgraduate Diploma course. Applicants must be prepared to work towards their studies outside of protected study time (such as on weekends and after work). Protected study time or teaching days are typically two days a week during term (with possibility of extra university days near start) and will be a mixture of in person and online sessions. Applicants must be willing to travel into London to attend their lectures.

This post is based in the well-located Kensington & Chelsea CAMHS team, close to Kensington High Street. We are a friendly and innovative team with several quality improvement projects running concurrently. We consistently meet our service targets and we aim to provide the best care for our patients. We have a nice combination of young clinicians and staff with a breadth of experience both in public and private sectors.
There are 4 distinctive sub-teams within K&C CAMHS - The under 5s team, the Enhanced team, the Emotional Disorders team and the Neurodevelopment team. This allows clinicians the opportunity to develop in a chosen specialism while at the same time being part of a wider team with a strong, cohesive identity.
