Job summary

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic Deputy Head of Healthcare to join our Healthcare Service at Oasis Restore Secure School (ORSS). ORSS is the first Secure School in the UK and will hold 12-18 year old children.

All staff work in line with 'Child First' principles to create a developmentally appropriate and trauma informed healthcare service. By joining our team, you will have the opportunity to be involved in developing a new service that will have a real impact on promoting health and well-being for this vulnerable population and impact on their future life orientation.

Interviews and Assessment Centre expected to take place on 8th November 2023 (am assessment center, pm interviews or vice versa)

Main duties of the job

The post holder will deputise for the Head of Healthcare supporting delivery of strategic goals for the service and those of Oasis Restore Secure School

The post holder will support leadership of a multidisciplinary team alongside colleagues in ORSS, subcontracted and other partners/organisations paying special and constant attention to ensuring CNWL and ORSS staff work in an integrated way to develop a 'One Team' approach and actively intervene where silo working practices start to embed.

Support the HoH and team to provide trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, healthcare services that are constantly reviewed to ensure they meet the complex, developmental needs of children in the secure school and that includes the involvement of children and family in planning care and services.

Operationally manage designated services within healthcare at Oasis Restore Secure School to ensure an equitable service to that available in the community. The post holder is responsible for ensuring that the highest quality, evidence-based services are provided.

The post holder will be an experienced healthcare professional who also has excellent staff management skills. They will support the Head of Healthcare to manage and develop the Healthcare team to achieve a targeted and appropriate service, delivered in accordance with evidence-based practice and local policies and procedures. The post holder will have direct line management responsibilities for senior staff.

The post holder will proactively lead healthcare teams to further develop services and clinical pathways; e.g. nurse led minor ailment clinics, sexual health clinics, neuro-developmental assessment clinics and immunisation programmes. In addition, the post holder will have a key role in implementing the school wide health promotion strategy and Positive Health Programme, overseeing the provision of a school nursing model of care.

The post holder will work closely with the Head of Healthcare to develop and implement an effective healthcare Strategy, which includes mental health, physical health and substance misuse, for Oasis Restore Secure School.There will be occasions when the post holder will be expected to deputise for the Head of Healthcare in his/her absence.
