Physician Associate
Ealing Community Paediatrics Team at Carmelita House (W5 2PJ) is looking for a Physician Associate to join our team.
We are part of the Child Development Team, who look after children with additional needs, such as developmental difficulties, physical disabilities, genetic conditions and a wide variety of other needs.
You will near completing, or have already completed your MSc/ Pg Dip in Physician's Associates and be on the FPMVR.
We don't yet have a PA working with our team, but are very enthusiastic about the role and keen to expand the team by bring PAs into community paediatric services.
Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent clinical skills and hold a good knowledge of issues facing children with additional needs. Excellent communication and IT skills are also essential.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of the Community Paediatric Team in Ealing. The Community Paediatric team has 6 consultants, 3 registrars and 1 clinical nurse specialist. The team is part of the wider Child Development Team, which includes speech therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, audiologists and specialist and school nurses.
The CDT in turn is part of Ealing Service for Children with Additional Needs - ESCAN, a partnership between health, education and social care.
We have a very good team of consultants, junior doctors and a clinical nurse specialist. We run a teaching programme for medical students and GP trainees, offer weekly teaching sessions for our junior staff members, and are active in audit and service improvement work.

- To improve the efficiency of the community paediatric team.
- To assess including history taking, physical examination and investigating children presenting to the Community Paediatric service
- To run developmental assessments, including the use of standardised assessments for developmental delay, and arrange investigations as needed.
- Be actively involved in patient care, liaising with other clinicians as needed
- Provide clinical advice and support to patients, their families and other healthcare professionals following diagnosis through to treatment.
- To act as a consistent member of the medical team and to help in transition processes and continuity of care for our patients.
- Keep accurate, legible and concise patient records in accordance with professional standards, codes of conduct and Trust policies and procedures.
- Make onward referrals to tertiary centres for specialist assessments as needed
- Contribute to the achievement and maintenance of key performance indicators for the trust.
- Have, develop and maintain extensive knowledge and experience in Paediatric community medicine, acting as a resource for the clinical team, fellow PAs and allied health professionals.
- To be accountable for care given and to comply with the Fitness to Practice and Code of Conduct standard as established by the UK Managed Voluntary Register for Physician Associates (and subsequently the appropriate statutory regulating body when in place). To work within the framework of the scope of professional practice.
- To ensure confidentiality at all times, only releasing confidential information obtained during the course of employment to those acting in an official capacity in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act and its amendments.

- Undergraduate degree in a health or life science prior to undertaking the Physician Associate programme
- Postgraduate Diploma or Masters in Physician Associate studies from an accredited UK training programme
- Evidence of having successfully passed the UK National Physician Associates exam (evidence of six-year recertification exam pass where necessary)
- Registration on the Faculty of Physician Associates Managed Voluntary Register- post qualification
