An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 CAMHS Practitioner to join Westminster CAMHS Early Intervention Team. The Early Intervention Team aims to provide mental health support to children, young people and their families who are experiencing the first signs of mental health difficulties.
This is achieved through providing consultation to various partnership agencies, both statutory and non-statutory, including Westminster's Early Help Teams- which is part of Westminster's Children's Services. In doing so, you will provide a much-valued link between these services and the local CAMHS service, and professionals to effectively recognise children's mental health difficulties, improve inter-agency collaboration in the provision of timely, accessible and responsive interventions.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be working across Westminster CAMHS Early Intervention service and Westminster Children's Service Early Help Teams providing consultation, mental health assessments and providing evidenced based mental health treatments to children, young people and their families in Westminster. They will provide support to frontline children's services in developing their capacity in early identification and intervention with children's mental health need. Promoting the emotional and mental health of children, young people and their families in the community, facilitating appropriate access to specialist CAMHS and other relevant provision.

- To provide comprehensive mental health assessments and treatment to children, young people and their families.
- Providing evidenced-based treatments to children and young people who are experiencing mental health difficulties
- Use Routine Outcome Measures in assessment and treatment of children, young people and their families.
- To support Early Help professionals through a variety of consultations andtrainings in order to increase their knowledge and skills in identifying the mental health needs of children. These activities would involve telephone and face to face, liaison and consultation. At a more advanced level carrying out joint assessments and directly supporting the interventions of Early Help professionals.
- Promoting the emotional and mental health of children and young people through the training of professionals/parents and carers in the early intervention and management of childrens mental health difficulties.To have an understanding of the 2014 Children and Families Act in regards to children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).
- To have an understanding of the graduated approach to support SEND, including use of the Westminster / Kensington & Chelsea SEND Local Offer.
- To adhere to statutory guidance including input to Educational Health Care Plans, and Pre-School Health Notifications.Facilitating appropriate access to CAMHS using specialist knowledge to assist professionals to identify the correct pathway to the appropriate service.
- To assist in the engagement of families who need preparation to utilize CAMHS.
- Working across boundaries requiring understanding and knowledge of various agencies, their policies and roles.
- To sensitively deliver child mental health training across a range of agencies and professionals.
- Providing direct clinical services to families in various settings (day nurseries, schools, health clinics, and family homes) in order to facilitate accessible and timely interventions which are responsive to cultural values and ethical issues.
