In this role you will work closely with patients with a suspected or diagnosed eating disorder, their families, friends and carers.
Band 4 Nursing Associates are expected to:
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and be accountable to the registered nurses they work with
- Be accountable as professionals registered with the NMC and work to the Code for Nurses, Midwives and Nursing Associates
- Promote health and prevent ill health
- Provide and monitor care
- Work to improve safety and the quality of care
As a Nursing Associate, you may be expected to practice any of the skills listed in the NMC Standards of Proficiency skills annexes or be responsible for the care delivered to a number of service users but you will always be supervised by a registered nurse and receive support from the wider multi-disciplinary team. We believe that the best health care is delivered by multi-disciplinary teams working well together and in partnership with other teams and services to provide seamless care.

Main duties of the job
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and be accountable to the registered nurses you work with.
Typical tasks for this role are:
- Assist with the processing of new referrals to the service.
- Participate in the assessment, planning and providing of clinical interventions relevant to the patient group.
- You will work alongside registered nurses in facilitating physical health monitoring clinics.
- You will assist with patient reviews and participate in providing training to medical wards, primary and secondary care services, and other external agencies as required and with the support of the registered nurse.
About us
The Children and Young Person's Community Eating Disorder Service provides care for young people up to the age of 18 with a suspected or confirmed eating disorder diagnosis, such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. Our multi-disciplinary team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, a dietician and psychological therapists. The service is currently developing a new CYP day programme and an intensive community treatment pathway.
The CYP service is the specialist service provider for patients living in the boroughs of Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, Hillingdon, Brent and Harrow. We offer assessment, diagnosis and integrated nutritional, medical and psychological care for people with eating disorders.
CYP is one part of the Vincent Square Eating Disorders Service which is an all-age service. The service has a main base in South Kensington in Central London as well as a satellite clinic at Roxborough Road in Harrow. The successful candidate's preference for working at either site will be taken into consideration, and systems are in place to allow flexible working from home for clinicians which is agreed with your manager and dependent on service need.

- Perform venepuncture in line with local venepuncture and aseptic non-touch technique policies
- Perform ECGs, forwarding results to team doctors for review.
- Participate in the initial assessment process
- Assist in the delivery of complex care as agreed by the multi-disciplinary team
- Contribute to multi-disciplinary team formulations and discussions about appropriate plans of care
- Attend Care Programme Approach meetings, act as lead professional when appropriate and undertake risk assessments.
- Working with patients and families and registered nurses to develop and implement care plans within the scope of your competence
- Providing skilled, evidence-based care which adheres to agreed policies and procedures
- Report back and share information with the registered nurses on the condition, behaviour, activity and responses of individuals
- Recognise deterioration in patients and escalate concerns appropriately
- Act as patient advocates in the multi-disciplinary team.
