We have an exciting opportunity for a Patient Safety Manager (maternity cover) to join the Safety Team at CNWL to support the delivery of the patient safety agenda within the Trust. CNWL is partnered with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and Quality Improvement is a key foundation of how we work at. The Safety Team at CNWL is a central resource that contains wealth of expertise from its specialist leads; the team covers the following areas: Resuscitation, Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression, Security, Medical Devices. Together we support the organisation in delivering safer and more effective care, whilst championing good practice and supporting the sharing of key lessons learned.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is a key member of the Trust Safety Team and supports clinical specialists at all levels in the organisation and leads on the patient safety agenda and any related training.
The post holder will lead on specific quality improvement work supporting the patient safety agenda and enable local services to improve patient safety at both a local and Trust-wide level.
The post holder will be responsible for the management and development of the Trust's risk management system (across all modules) ensuring delivery of key safety indicators.

We are looking for a committed individual with patient safety/risk management experience who will lead a small team focusing on improving patient safety across the organisation. Key responsibilities for the role include:
- Acting as the Trust lead for the Datix Risk Management system and be the responsible person for the management of the system.
- Have oversight of the Trusts compliance with Duty of Candour and NRLS processes
- Actively engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the trust is delivering all aspects of Quality and Safety Improvement.
- Be responsible for analysing complex data, highlighting trends and making recommendations via the provision of reports to the Trust Board, and other core groups and committee, such at the Annual Incidents and Learning from Deaths Reports for the Trust.
- Leading on Quality Improvement projects relating to the delivery of patient safety initiatives
- Oversee and manage responses to the Central Alerting System and assurance process for this, ensuring that there is close collaboration with relevant staff and departments.
- Support the Trust wide Mortality Review Group by ensuring that mortality data and detailed analysis is provided.
- Develop and deliver patient safety and candour training within the Trust
- Supporting the implementation of the NHS Patient Safety Strategy.
