Specialist Grade Doctor in Psychiatry (Crane Ward)
We are seeking a Specialist Grade Doctor in Psychiatry to join Crane Ward Team located at Riverside Centre, Pield Heath Road in Uxbridge. You will be part of a Multi-disciplinary Team that care for women above the age of 18 who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness.
This role provides a great opportunity to build your experience in the NHS . You will have a comprehensive induction, and if you choose you can access our CESR programme to work towards consultant status.
The successful candidate should have been in a relevant specialty in the Specialty Doctor and/or closed SAS grades for a minimum of six years. They should have an inclusive, compassionate and service user focused approach.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to provide in-patient care for all patients admitted to Crane Ward, under the supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist.
The post holder will undertake assessments of patients refereed to the service and liaise with nursing and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
This will include providing support and advice on alternative services should the admission be not required.

Job responsibilities
To maintain detailed notes, care history and initiate necessary investigations and assessments for the patients in care.
Establishing, initiating and evaluating treatment plans and risk assessments in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team under the supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist in charge of the ward.
To conduct interviews with relatives and carers as required.
To initiate and facilitate meetings with professionals and families as appropriate.
To arrange care plans, treatment and discharge for each patient, in a timely manner.
To arrange relevant referrals for both; the multi-disciplinary team and other external services.
To adhere to Trust local policies and procedures and BMHS, including policies and procedures related to the management of medication and physical healthcare.
Preparation and presentation of medico-legal reports, including reports for Managers hearings and Medial Health Review Tribunals.
To complete full risk assessments for each patient in conjunction with the MDT.
To liaise with all external agencies as required and attend meetings as appropriate.
To take part in the 2nd on-call Rota (1 in 10) including attendance on the wards at weekends.
To make recommendations in line with the Mental Health Act Assessments for patients on the ward, as appropriate.
To complete diagnostic coding (ICD10) in a timely manner.
To work closely with other medical colleagues, provide support and supervise a smooth and safe discharge.
To chair and supervise ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meeting as and when required.
To support training of other medical team members, nursing colleagues, medical and nursing students.
To maintain accurate records of whiteboard meeting, ward rounds and any other reviews relevant to this role.
To meet on a regular basis with the Consultant Psychiatrist in charge of Crane Ward.
To participate in continuing professional development.
To participate in annual appraisal in line with the Trust policy.

- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
- Full GMC Registration with a license to practice
- To be section 12(2) MHA 1983 approved (or achieve within 6 months of apt), if not have Approved Clinician (AC) status/approval and be on the AC Register
- A minimum of six years should have been in a relevant specialty in the Specialty Doctor and/or closed SAS grades
- Equivalent years' experience in a relevant specialty from other medical grades including from overseas
