We are looking for a passionate speech and language therapist to work in the Hillingdon Early Years team supporting children and young people with speech and language disorder

Main duties of the job

Band 6 - Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist -30 hrs per week

    • To provide support to children with delayed/disordered language skills
    • To be responsible for providing specialist assessment and diagnosis of children within community clinics
    • To provide specialist ongoing therapy through more intensive individual therapy sessions
    • To provide advice and training to parents and other professionals around early identification intervention and prevention.
    • To prioritise the Safeguarding of Vulnerable Children at all times
    • To support the service to achieve Key Performance Indicators and maintain Target Activity Levels
    • To take part in, and where appropriate lead on, quality governance, audits and projects for the team/service
    • To contribute to, and provide feedback about, possible developments in the team
    • To provide mentoring advice (buddying), support and shadowing to less experienced Speech and Language Therapists, Assistants and volunteers as requested by the team leader

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree qualification or equivalent (minimum of 2:1 or equivalent)
  • Further training courses relevant to the post
  • Health and Care Professions Council licence to practice.
  • Registered member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists

Desirable

  • First class honours degree or equivalent
  • Extensive training relevant to the post
  • Attendance at London Speech Disorders clinical excellence Network
  • Speech sound disorder assessment and therapy planning course

Previous Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a mainstream/special school as a therapist
  • Experience of delivering training
  • Experience of supervising a student
  • Experience of providing informal support to less experienced colleagues
  • Experience of setting up groups for school staff to continue to run

Desirable

  • Experience of leading on a project to improve/develop the service
  • Experience of providing formal support to less experienced colleagues
  • Experience of developing and delivering training
