Hillingdon CAMHS are looking to recruit two creative, flexible, adaptable, professional, and motivated Child Wellbeing Practitioners.

These are 23 months fixed-term positions and the post-holders will be working as part of the multi-disciplinary teams delivering high-quality, brief, outcome-focused, and evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing moderate mental health difficulties.

Main duties of the job

Child Wellbeing Practitioners would support the development and delivery of a wide range of interventions including:

  • Deliver brief Goal-Based Interventions
  • Manage a small caseload of service users
  • Help with Routine Outcome Measures (ROMS) administration
  • Help with updating CAMHS website and staff photo boards
  • Supporting Neurodevelopmental assessments
  • Supporting school observations
  • Supporting Assessment Clinics & team meeting by taking notes
  • Supporting CAMHS Triage Teams
  • Supporting Treatment Waiting List Initiatives
  • Supporting Initial Assessment Waiting List Initiatives
  • Supporting clinicians by taking session notes
  • Group work

The post-holder will also oversee all elements of Participation in the borough. This includes engaging all service users in various ways to gain feedback and participate in shaping local Children and Adolescent Mental Health services and will require traveling across the borough and the CAMHS service line.

The Child Wellbeing Practitioner will work with children, Young People, and Families from different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary, and should be committed to equal opportunities.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Work in partnership with children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and their families delivering CBT based Guided Self-Help intervention
  • Work in partnership with children, young people and families in the development of goals for the intervention and agreed outcomes.
  • Support and empower children, young people and families to make informed choices about the intervention.
  • Operate at all times from an inclusive values base, which recognizes and respects diversity.
  • Undertake accurate assessment of risk to self and others.
  • Adhere to the service referral protocols.
  • Provide information and support to children, YP and their parents to access appropriate further help if required.
  • Provide intervention and engage children, YP and their parents using face-to-face, telephone or other media.
  • Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the overall number of children and young people contacts offered, and sessions carried out per week in order to improve timely access and minimize waiting times.
  • Attend multi-disciplinary team meetings
  • Keep coherent records of all activity in line with service protocols and use these records and outcome data to inform decisions making . Complete all requirements relating to data collection
  • To be proactive and creative
  • To ensure the quality of all work is maintained to a high standard an ensure reports to evidence this are available on request.

  • To attend regular supervision
  • To raise the quality standards of our Service and ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to and practise in line with the National CAMHS agenda, NICE guidelines and CNWL policies and procedures.
  • The post-holder is expected to work in consultation with other members of the team and other participation colleagues from within the CNWL CAMHS service.
  • Utilising participation groups/resource, to consult with young people and encourage their active participation in all aspects of planning, decision-making and delivery of services.
  • To work within the local safeguarding requirements for clinicians as per CNWL Safeguarding policy
  • To be involved in audit and quality improvement projects.
  • To establish and maintain positive relationships with local organisations
  • To be actively involved in obtaining feedback from young people and families about their treatment, and take initiative in service improvement processes based on this feedback
  • To work with service users and their families to develop approaches to monitoring and evaluating client satisfaction. This will include inputting data and producing feedback reports on a regular basis.
  • To develop, order and maintain appropriate resources and materials, using participatory approaches to help local communitys access local CAMHS services e.g. (video, leaflets and webpages).
  • To run the local participation group and take a leading role in service user involvement within CAMHS.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Child Wellbeing Practitioner Post Graduate Certificate.
  • Evidence of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties
  • Evidence of ability to study successfully at undergraduate level or the equivalent

Desirable

  • Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a specific psychological therapy
  • Psychology or other health /social care/youth related undergraduate degree
  • Other relevant postgraduate degree

Experience

  • Demonstrates high standards in written communication
