Job summary

Work within the Pharmacy is varied and includes dispensing medicines and budget management, medicine governance, health promotion, medicine review clinics, effective care planning and liaising with the multidisciplinary team. It's this variety that keeps things interesting and stimulating. Every day will bring new challenges and new experiences but you'll have all the support you need to deliver the best care possible from both the healthcare team and the prison team.

Main duties of the job

You will be a Registered Pharmacy Technician with a real passion for delivering high quality medicine management service. You will be self-motivated, flexible and work well within a team but be able to work autonomously. You will need to have previous experience in management and leadership.

You do not need to have prison experience as we will provide you with a full induction and training, but you will need to have pharmacy management experience.

The successful candidate will have a BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical sciences, experience managing teams, experience in a secure environment is desirable but not a requirement. You will be able to demonstrate your competency and pharmacy practice skills by use of a practice portfolio. The successful candidate will demonstrate good organisation, communication and prioritisation skills.

You will be responsible for contributing and lead towards efficient medicines management systems, along with the pharmacist, to ensure safe and secure handling of medicines. You must have exceptional interpersonal skills and a non-judgemental approach to liaise with service users who present with a wide range of complex health needs.

Essential

  • BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • GPhC registered
  • Accredited checking Technician or willing to work towards within ONE year of appointment

Desirable

  • Medication Counselling Training AIMMS accredited

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • UK Community, Hospital or Prison based Pharmacy (substantial post qualification experience)
  • Education and training of pharmacy staff
  • Portfolio demonstrating competency of previous and current pharmacy practice skills, knowledge, and CPD.

Desirable

  • Experience in a supervisory/management capacity
