Job summary

An exciting opportunity as a permanent Consultant has arisen to join our flagship inpatient Rehabilitation Services: Westfield House in Horton and Colham Green in Hillingdon.

The Horton Rehabilitation Service and the Colham Green Unit are modern and innovative rehabilitation services. You will be part of experienced Multi-disciplinary Teams in the two units, responsible for the delivery of high-quality services to people with severe and enduring mental illness, including those with challenging behaviours.

You will be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview.

Main duties of the job

To provide clinical leadership in intensive open rehabilitation services.

To work closely as Responsible Clinician with the MDT and the other consultants in the Rehabilitation Service to provide an excellent, best value service.

To work across service interfaces, ensuring good working relationships with clinical staff in other services to maximise care pathway opportunities.

To participate actively in initiatives linked with Care Quality Programmes.

About us

CNWL (Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust) Rehabilitation Services consist of eleven wards in total; six within Central and North West London and five in Horton, providing a step-down approach within both High Dependency (locked) and Community Rehabilitation (open) settings. The service provides a general rehabilitation service as well as a range of sub-specialist services such as for service users with co-morbidity and challenging behaviours. The service model also comprises a specialist placement team. The service line is unique from other services within the trust, income-generating for up to a third of its core business. This has resulted in a profitable service, with greater autonomy and opportunities to grow within the sector. Admissions are based on suitability assessments and approval by relevant CCGs.

Colham Green is a 15-bedded open, mixed sex rehabilitation unit, close to Hillingdon hospital.

The Horton Rehabilitation Service is based in Epsom, Surrey and is 30 minutes from London on the Victoria or Waterloo railway lines. Horton provides a stepped care model of inpatient rehabilitation service for CNWL NHS Foundation Trust and comprises:

Job responsibilities

  • Providing clinical leadership to the team
  • Acting as Responsible Clinician for detained patients, including preparing reports for Hospital Managers, Mental Health Review Tribunals and the Ministry of Justice and attending Tribunals
