JOB SUMMARY
- Delivering podiatry clinics for patients within the Ealing Podiatry service
- Being part of rotations for Podiatry service in Diabetes/MSK/Nail surgery.
- To monitor and participate in audits within the Podiatry service/Diabetes Education service.
- To work with Podiatry service/Diabetes Education Service in delivering Structured Education for patients with type 2 diabetes.
- To support the development of quality podiatry education within the diabetes service.
- Provide education and training to students/public and staff in the organisation
- Support the Podiatry service and diabetes education service at events/diabetes awareness campaigns
Main duties of the job
We have an opportunity for an experienced qualified, HCPC registered Podiatrist with a flexible approach, to join our amazing Community team, to provide Podiatric care and multi-disciplinary diabetes education to the Ealing borough.
The post holder will be expected to carry out Podiatry clinics/home visits and will have the opportunity to develop in the specialist area of Diabetes. Professional support will be provided through regular supervision, CPD and team meetings within the main podiatry department and diabetes education service.
The Diabetes Education Service (DES) is managed by the Diabetes service. The post holder will provide in part some of their role to this service. The post holder will provide the Podiatry component of a local multi-disciplinary education programme for patients with Type 2 Diabetes known as Right Start.
The post holder will need excellent group work and facilitation skills, good organisational skills, demonstrate a patient centred focus and have excellent communication skills.
The post holder will need to be flexible to travel to other sites to run and support the group sessions and carry out clinics.
Occasional Saturday working online/face to face session of diabetes education will be required.
The post holder will report to a band 7 lead who will line manage and provide joint supervision/appraisal with the Education service manager.

- To autonomously assess and diagnose patients with a diverse range of medical and podiatric conditions, using appropriate diagnostic techniques, skills and tools
- To provide general and specialist foot care and advice, including the care of the at risk and high risk foot; providing information on the signs and symptoms of pedal manifestations of systemic chronic and acute diseases.
- When undertaking sessional clinic care , to evaluate and review treatment outcomes and implement discharge plans.
- When undertaking clinical work, to work with members of the wider diabetes multidisciplinary team, to provide advice and education within this forum acting as an expert in your own professional field.
- To maintain accurate patient records including assessment and treatment plans in accordance with departmental and professional guidelines.
- Ensure that the condition of clinical rooms is maintained in accordance with infection control and Podiatry Service Guidelines.
- To collect agreed statistical information in accordance with Trust and Team standards.
- Be part of audits/QI/clinical effectiveness projects
