Job summary
We have an exciting, fixed term opportunity for a band 7 Speech & Language Therapist to provide clinical leadership within our Adult Speech and Language Therapy team. The successful application will be joining a friendly and supportive team.
This is a unique opportunity to focus on mentorship of junior members of the team, to support with supervision and completion of their dysphagia competencies, whilst also providing clinical leadership in the acute setting. This is an ideal job for therapists wanting to take ownership of service development and improvement and develop clinical confidence to newly qualified staff.
Main duties of the job
This post would be cross bay, mentoring and providing clinical supervision across different service pathways (acute, community and stroke) covering a wide variety of patients inclusive of frailty, progressive and acute neurology, stroke, respiratory, and cancer.
Competencies in videofluoroscopy and an ability to contribute to this service would be ideal but not essential.
This role is for a 12-month fixed term maternity cover but we can support part-time or flexible working. We may have the opportunity to develop this into a permanent, substantive position. About us
We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our Community Service for adults are provided in people's homes ,community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent , improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care , advice and support.
