In this role, you will help shape the future of the department. Main duties of the job
Deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to all patients and service users, ensuring practice aligns with current clinical standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate and take operational charge of the department, providing clear, effective leadership to ensure the safe, efficient, and seamless delivery of clinical services.
Promote and safeguard staff wellbeing, ensuring patient care is delivered safely, compassionately, and in a timely manner, in adherence to local policies, procedures, and professional standards.
Maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with all specialties and members of the multidisciplinary team to support effective communication and continuity of care.
Support professional development and continuous learning, encouraging growth within the team and providing supervision, guidance, and mentorship to junior staff.
Confidently manage challenging conversations, addressing concerns or performance issues in a fair, supportive, and timely manner, while maintaining professionalism and fostering a positive team culture.
About us
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
