An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic dietitian to join our friendly and supportive team in a district general hospitalwithin the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay. Barrow in Furness is on the South Cumbrian coast within easy reach of the Lake District National Park and offers a wide variety of leisure activities for a positive work life balance.
Main duties of the job
The post would ideally be suited to a newly or recently qualified dietitian wishing to expand their dietetic skills and knowledge. There will be opportunities for career progression and development.
Return to practice candidates would be welcome to apply with a view to progression to a Band 5 position on receiving HCPC registration. Applications from students expecting to graduatein the near futurewill also be considered.
The successful applicant will work as part of a small team, with the support of experienced dietitians. The post covers a range of inpatient work including medical, surgical, orthopaedics,oncologyand stroke management as well as outpatient clinics.As such you will gain experience in a wide range of clinical areas such as nutrition support, enteralfeedingandgastroenterology. Opportunities to gain experience in dietetic specialist areas will be supported whereappropriate.
The department is approved for training student dietitians.We have excellent IT facilities and are committed to personal development and training.
Applicants should be HCPC registered dietitians. The post will be based at Furness GeneralHospital butmay require travel to other sites within the Trust.
About us
We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our Community Service for adults are provided in people's homes ,community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent , improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care , advice and support.
