An opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Clinical Leader - 30 hours.
Ward 35 is a 27 bedded very busy acute Respiratory Ward.
You must have good knowledge and experience with Acute Respiratory conditions and their management , including NIV , HI Flow and chest drains some Tracheostomy' knowledge desirable . You must be able to demonstrate good leadership skills and the ability to maintain patient safety with high standards of care.
The role includes supporting junior staff whilst leading a shift to ensure safe care is given. Co ordinating using a forward thinking approach with admissions and discharges enabling timely bed flow. Participating in audits and reporting on areas below par, acknowledging areas of improvements, whilst assisting the ward manager to maintain high standards and implement change as required
Main duties of the job
You will be registered nurse who will be encouraged and supported to proactively engage with these professions to provide the best quality care and outcomes for our patients. You will have excellent communication skills and participate in providing and sharing information throughout the day, to patients and their relatives, at ward rounds and at regular ward multidisciplinary meetings.
You will act as a role model, adhere to the trusts vision and values, support junior members of the team and the ward manager to ensure high standards of care are delivered to maintain patient safety.
You will be required to have a proactive approach, being able to understand the bigger picture, to manage your daily workload and develop your leadership skills. Excellent communication and time management skills are a necessity to this position and you will be supported to undertake additional training and study days.
About us
We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
