Job summary

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust covers a large geographic area which encompasses the Furness peninsula, the city of Lancaster and the Lake District. Clinical investigation Services are provided on three sites, Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Furness General Hospital and Westmorland General Hospital.The post will be on theRoyal Lancaster Infirmarysite.

An opportunity has arisen to join a friendly, committed team in clinical Investigations. We are looking for a motivated, dedicatedand enthusiastic individual.

As lead specialist the post holder will be responsible for ensuring aquality management system is available and managed to ensure aCommunity diagnostic and physiological sciences service isdelivered to the Trust and other users of the service.To assist/support the service in the development and monitoring ofrobust systems for clinical governance to improve patient care inline with Department of Health, National/International Standards,Trust policies and procedures and local action frameworks.To provide visible leadership, Quality and Governance, Advice andGuidance and support departments across Community Diagnosticand Physiological Science services.Monitor and report activities and performance via key performanceindicators at the Community Diagnostic Quality Meetings,Community Diagnostics management team meetings and CoreClinical Services Care Group Heads of Service.

Main duties of the job

To work effectively and efficiently as part of the Clinical Investigations team in providing a high quality service, ensuring the highest standard of patient care.

The post holder is responsible for developing, managing,supporting and monitoring the quality management system, qualityschemes and initiatives for all services within the CommunityDiagnostic service. The post holder provides specialist support andmonitors conformity to quality standards and accreditationschemes, e.g. United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS),Medical Health Regulation Agency (MHRA), Human TissuesAuthority (HTA) Public Health England (PHE) The Health andSafety Executive (HSE) etc. and ensures that the agreedguidelines and protocols are followed.The post holder will attend and report quality and governanceinformation for the Community Diagnostic service at the Heads ofService.The post holder is responsible for developing and coordinating thedelivery of training and education of all staff within CDC andPhysiological Sciences in all elements of quality management andthe quality management system.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals - FGH, RLI and WGH, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom, GP practices and QVC and Ulverston Health Centre.

FGH and RLI have a range of general hospital services with Emergency care and critical./ coronary units and various Consultant led services.

WGH provides a range of general hospital service, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostic, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In additional, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our community services for adults are provided in peoples homes, community centres, clinics, GP practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
