We are completing a significant change to our organisational structure, as we move to three large clinical divisions across Morecambe Bay and we are establishing this new role, which will be an important role in the CCDE Division.
Main duties of the job
This position offers a fantastic opportunity to be part of exciting changes at Morecambe Bay. You will be responsible for the delivery of diagnostic services within CCDE and for redesigning services to meet best practice standards, continually improving the quality of services to patients.
The post holder will work in line with the Trust's corporate objectives and will be expected to make a positive contribution to the provision of health services across the local health economy. The post holder will be expected to work in line with the Trust values and behave in a manner that facilitates the development of autonomous teams and individuals that are empowered, engaged and committed to continually delivering excellent care with compassion.
You will be a visible leader and provide direction to the services and heads of department within the portfolio of the role. You will work in collaboration with clinical leads to develop the strategy for diagnostic services, working closely within colleagues in the ICB on transition to the single service for Pathology. You will play a key role in the development of our 3 Community Diagnostic Centres, recently established in Heysham, Kendal and Barrow. You will be proactive in identifying opportunities for clinical innovation and modernisation, and tenacious in the delivery of service objectives and performance targets across all 4 quadrants of People, Quality, Operational delivery and Finance.

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
