Job summary
The post holder works closely with the Chief Operating Officer supporting strategic, system wide changes which support the attainment of the Trust's corporate objectives in responding to issues both within the Trust, and the Provider Collaborative and wider Integrated Care system. The purpose of the role is to work as a key member of the Chief Operating Officer's team in the management of relationships with internal and external partners. This role is a key part of the Chief Operating Officer senior team, alongside Divisional Directors, the Director of Strategy, Improvement and Transformation, and the Associate Director of Elective Care and Performance.This post holder will contribute to work within the senior leadership team in the development, management, and implementation of the Chief Operating Officer's portfolio of responsibility and for improving the quality of service delivery across a range of work streams. The role will be a senior member of the Chief Operating Officer's team and thus will be required to consistently operate with a high level of political awareness, personal influence and skill, working effectively with external partners In a period of organisational challenge and change, the post holder will be expected to provide flexible support to meet the evolving needs of theorganisation.
Main duties of the job
To work in partnership with the Chief Operating Officer leading on the key programmes of work and refinement of key strategic documents and policies which underpin the delivery of the Chief Operating Officer's portfolio of responsibilities interpreting external policies, advice and guidance to determine the relevance. To lead on behalf of the Chief Operating Officer, the development of effective communication structures for the presenting of updates to various internal and external forums, working with colleagues across the Trust and wider system, to support business planning and monitoring ensuring progress on the delivery. We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
