Job summary
We are seeking a Consultant to join the current ENT team in the Trust. You will work Cross Bay with Royal Lancaster Infirmary as the main site. You will be contracted for 10 sessions per week with the option to increase along with service needs. You will need to have a broad experience in general ENT. Any subspecialty interest in Otology is required and will be actively supported although on calls will need general ENT experience.

Main duties of the job
We provide a comprehensive range of acute and support hospital services to a population of 350,000 based around Morecambe Bay. One of the largest employers in the area, we have approximately 6,000 staff working across five sites; Furness General Hospital (Barrow in Furness), Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Westmorland General Hospital (Kendal) and Queen Victoria Centre (Morecambe). The ENT department has 5 consultants, 3 Associate specialists, 7 specialty ENT doctors and 2 junior doctors (CT1/2 at RLI, FY2 at FGH). We have two H&N Clinical Nurse Specialists, one Advanced Nurse Practitioner in post. There are specialized clinics such as a One stop Head & Neck clinic, Combined `Rhinology clinic, Paediatrics clinics, Voice and Vertigo clinic. There are regular audit meetings, radiology meetings and video link meetings for the regional Head & Neck Multi-Disciplinary Team. The weekend on call rota would be 1:5 and weekday 1:4.
About us
We have facilities for Sialendoscopy, Balloon Sinuplasty, and Endoscopic ear surgery, Trans Nasal Oesophagoscopy, BAHA's and DCR's, navigation for endoscopic sinus surgery and nerve monitoring for parotid/ear/thyroid surgery. We aim to provide patient care close to home. Our H&N network is with Royal Preston Hospital but we also have excellent ties with Manchester Royal Infirmary for Skull Base pathology and Rhinology related conditions. For paediatric services we have ties with Alder Hey and Manchester Children's. An elaborate audiology service is available for adults and paediatrics. There is an opportunity for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as well and we have strong connections with the Lancaster Medical School. We are a paperless department with e-prescribing and e-requesting. We are keen to develop our services further safely and to the highest standard possible keeping in view with our specific geographic demands. We have a high day case rate and encourage any innovation to improve patient safety and experience along with improved efficiency
