Job summary
The Royal Lancaster Infirmary is looking for a 6 month fixed term Senior Clinical Fellows in Paediatrics available to join our team at the Middle-Grade Level from August 2025.
The posts are based in the Paediatric Department at Royal Lancaster Infirmary and you will be part of a team delivering day to day care of patients on the Children's Ward and Neonatal Unit.
You will be required to participate in the 1:8 resident on-call rota which includes night duties, day shifts and weekends.
Main duties of the job
You will work as a member of a team of middle grade doctors working a full shift system.
The clinical duties of the post include the following:
- Day to day care of patients on the Children's Unit and Neonatal Unit as well as covering the Central Delivery Suite and post-natal Ward.
- Maintenance of patient's records and generation of timely Discharge Summaries
- Participation in Consultant-led ward rounds undertaken by the Paediatric Team
- Emergency care of patients in the paediatric assessment unit and the emergency department
About us
We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise at time of appointment.
- Medical Degree from a recognised university
- MBBS or recognised equivalent qualification.
- APLS certified/ in date (or equivalent)
- NLS certified / in date (or equivalent)
Desirable
- Post Graduate Qualification in Paediatrics
Experience
Essential
- Minimum of 2-years' experience in Paediatric Specialty
- Completion of at least four years full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty; or shall have equivalent experience and competencies.
- Evidence of achievement appropriate to ST3 level or higher
- Active involvement in Audit and Quality Improvement projects
