Job summary
Applications are invited from experienced phlebotomist to work within the established phlebotomy team at the Furness General Hospital.You will work within the Team to ensure the provision of a phlebotomy service to inpatient wards and pathology clinic.
This is an interesting position, and you will be joining a team which provides a service combining a unique mix of duties in a busy but friendly department.
This will be a fixed term contract from 01/04/2025-31/03/2026
Normal working hours are 16 per week.

Main duties of the job
Phlebotomists are responsible for the collection of blood byvenepuncture for a wide range of pathological analysis.
Work is managed on a daily basis not directly supervised.
The post holder will work as part of a team to ensure ClinicalAccreditation is maintained.
The post holder will comply with local and national policies for thesafe and Secure processing of patient information.
Under the direction of the phlebotomy supervisor or the Head ofPathology Services you will be responsible for ensuring that a highquality service is delivered to the Morecambe Bay Hospitals NHSFoundation Trust and other users of the service.
All duties will be performed to a professional standard directed byNational, Trust and pathology service policies and procedures.
About us
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our community services for adults are provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
