The Neonatal Service has vacancies for Band 5 registered nurses that have experience in the care of the preterm and sick infant.You will be reliable, flexible, motivated and have a commitment to delivering high quality care to babies and families.If you are looking for an opportunity to work with a team of professionals dedicated to placing the baby and family at the centre of everything we do, then we want to hear from you.The Neonatal Unit at Royal Lancaster Infirmary is a 10 bedded Level 2 unit which includes 1 intensive care cot, 2 High Dependency cot and 7 Special care cots providing care for babies from 28 weeks gestation. Infants with gestation lower than 27 weeks are transferred to a tertiary facility via a dedicated Network Transfer Team.
Our hospitals are situated on the edge of the Lake District National Park, surrounded by an area of outstanding natural beauty, offering superb outdoor and recreational activities related to the sea, lakes, fells and countryside. Road links to the cities of Manchester and Liverpool are via the M6, and high speed rail links from Lancaster to London enable a journey time of less than three hours.

Infants with gestation lower than 27 weeks are transferred to a tertiary facility via a dedicated Network Transfer Team.The Special Care Baby Unit at Furness General Hospital is a Level 1 unit which has 4 special care cots and is integrated onto the maternity ward where there is a transitional care area. Significantly preterm or sick infants are stabilised and transferred out via a dedicated Network Transfer Team.The neonatal team is supported by a specialist neonatal educator and a comprehensive induction package is provided to all new staff. About us
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threateningconditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
