Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our community team covering children and young people aged 0-19 in the Lancaster and Morecambe Area. This is a fantastic opportunity to help child/young person unlock their potential by implementing an occupation and outcome focused service.

Our service offers a tiered approach and focuses on participation in child/young person's meaningful occupations within the home, school, nursery and other community setting:

We offer regular supervision, training, and opportunities to develop core occupational therapy skills and knowledge.

Main duties of the job

The Main Duties of the job include:

Providing child/young person-centred goal setting, assessment and intervention within goal-based episodes of care.

Being responsible for a caseload of children with a variety of ages and potential conditions impacting their occupational performance including cerebral palsy and developmental co-ordination disorder.

Working within a well-established and friendly team and being part of service development based on up to date guidelines and best current evidence.

Providing universal and targeted support to stakeholders including schools and children's centres to promote meaningful occupational participation

About us

We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Qualifications

Essential

  • OT diploma or degree
  • HPCP registered

Desirable

  • Member of RCOT

Experience

Essential

  • Core competencies within OT

Desirable

  • OT practice placement experience or post registration experience in a children and young people's community team as an occupational therapist, achieving knowledge and skills applicable to this post.
  • Experience of working with children and young people in other settings

Skills

Essential

  • Assessment, observation, evaluation and reporting skills.
  • Basic computer skills e.g. word processing, email and internet skills
  • Knowledge and understanding the role of a children and young people's occupational therapist.

Desirable

  • Knowledge regarding Model of Human Occupational Therapy (MOHO).
