Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Clinical Psychologist to join our Integrated Community Stroke Team (ICST) and contribute to our Stroke pathway improvement journey at UHMB.
We have been successful in a funding application to the national Stroke SQuiRE programme to improve access to psychology for patients on the Stroke pathway across Morecambe Bay.
This is a fixed term post for 12 months, providing 1 day a week of psychology advice and supervision to the team. The hours can be split over 2 days and can provided virtually to support agile and flexible working.
The post holder will work closely with other senior clinical and operational staff within the team & care group to provide a psychological perspective to our UHMB Stroke Strategy & service transformation plans.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will offer -
-psychological advice and supervision to the Integrated Community Stroke Team ( ICST) via a virtual MDT meeting.
-specialist education/training to the ICST team/ wider stroke MDT
-contribution to wider project planning and evaluation to inform psychological provision to the Stroke Pathway across the Lancashire and South Cumbria area.
About us
We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Qualifications
Essential
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
- HCPC registered as a practitioner psychologist (clinical)
- Eligibility for Consultant Clinical Psychologist appointment approval from external BPS assessor
- Evidence of CPD as required by HCPC
Desirable
- Chartered status with the British Psychological Society and membership of the division of Clinical Psychology
- Post doctoral training in one or more additional special areas of psychological practice in relation to speciality
Experience
Essential
- Substantial post qualification experience including experience within the designated speciality/type of service
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups across the whole life course.
