Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and resourceful Stores Supervisor to support the Pathology Department of University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.
This position is 22.5 hours per week and is based at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. However, there may be occasions when travel to the other main sites is required to support the service.
Main duties of the job
Applicants will have excellent organisational skills to manage numerous requests for supplies from many different areas. Basic information technology knowledge will be useful as the ordering process is fully electronic and there will be a requirement to raise purchase orders on local and national electronic systems. Communication skills will be vital in working with many different users of the Pathology service and you will need to be flexible and responsive to urgent issues that may arise.
About us
We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Under the direction of the Pathology Quality Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day management of the storage and distribution of pathology related consumables ensuring that a high quality service is delivered to the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and to designated Primary Care clinics within the Lancaster and Morecambe area.
All duties will be performed to a professional standard directed by the Trust and Pathology Services policies and procedures. All duties are undertaken independently day to day with referral to management for erroneous issues only.
The post holder will work as part of a team to ensure UKAS ISO 15189 accreditation is maintained.
