Job summary
The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and well organised PACS and Radiology IT Manager to lead a small team responsible for administering and developing the Radiology IT systems across all of our sites, providing a high quality service for our patients and clinical teams.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in the administration and support of PACS and RIS in a clinical Radiology department and a strong working knowledge of medical imaging technologies, DICOM, HL7 and relevant standards. Excellent communication skills and an ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues is essential. Experience of managing a small team would be advantageous.
This is a full time, 18 month Fixed Term post and will be based at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary but some travel to other sites is an expected part of the role.
The Radiology Departments at UHMB carry out a full range of investigations including Plain Film, CT, MR, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine and DEXA. The Trust use Sectra PACS and RIS for our image storage and administrative systems and transfer out to other Trusts using IEP.
Main duties of the job
To manage the Picture Archive and communication system (PACS) and the Radiology IT Systems (RIS) across the Trust.
To manage a team offering PACS and IT support across the sites
To provide support to all systems users.
To link with the providers and be responsible for ensuring all users are aware of any system modification, upgrades or downtime that are required by the providers to ensure the systems are kept current, working efficiently, maintained to the required level.
Develop and implement policies and guidelines in relation to Radiology IT systems, resilience and business continuity
To liaise with neighbouring Trusts as part of the ICS to work collaboratively on PACS/RIS and other IT based projects.
About us
We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
