The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Therapy Team would like to recruit well-motivated and enthusiastic Physiotherapists to join our rotation programme in South Cumbria. Applications are welcomed from undergraduates looking for roles following their successful graduation as well as from Physiotherapists who already have HCPC registration.
With rotations in acute and community locations in the Furness area, you will be based on the edge of the Lake District National Park giving easy access to recreational activities such as Fell Walking and water sports.
Main duties of the job
Our well established Band 5 rotations provide opportunities to develop skills in a range of clinical settings within our friendly and supportive team. Rotations available across inpatients, outpatients and community services.
Within Furness General Hospital (FGH), in-patient rotations include Surgical / ICU, Medical, Orthopaedics, & Stroke. With out-patient rotations in both primary and secondary care settings (Alfred Barrow Health centre), you will have a range of opportunities to develop your knowledge & skills. Within the hospital based out-patient team you will work with patients referred from the Trauma & Orthopaedic Consultant teams with opportunities to develop skills in other areas, including amputee rehab. Within the community rotation you will complete domiciliary visits and travel around the local area, where you will work with an experienced team, managing a caseload of patients referred mainly from primary care.
Following a period of training and development you will be expected to contribute to the weekend working and on call rotas at Furness General Hospital.

Your role will be based in the Furness area and at Furness General Hospital.
As an organisation we operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

- Health Professions Council registered Physiotherapist
- Honours Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy approved by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy/ Health Professions Council
Desirable
- Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
Experience

- Comprehensive experience at undergraduate level of the core competencies within physiotherapy for example: musculo-skeletal, neurology and cardio- respiratory care
- Evidence of effective written and oral communication skills in English in a variety of settings
