The prime function of the unit is the preparation of cytotoxic, monoclonal antibodies and clinical trials in a safe and efficient manner according to Good Manufacturing Practice and National Standards.

Main duties of the job

You will be working within our Aseptic Unit to help provide safe, timely, appropriate high quality pharmaceutical services.

Main Duties

As part of a busy and friendly team, you will help to make a range of aseptically prepared products including cytotoxics, monoclonal antibodies and parental nutrition, within a clean room environment. Clean room clothing is worn and you must follow procedures to ensure minimal contamination such as wearing no make-up. You will make sure patients receive their treatment in a timely manner.

To maintain stock and consumable levels ensuring stock rotation within designated areas in accordance with procedures

To perform general tidying and non-domestic cleaning duties in the department as needed, ensuring the safe disposal of waste.

Awareness of COSHH (Control of substances hazardous to health) regulations for the storage handling and disposal of pharmaceutical products

You need to be methodical, accurate, able to strictly follow procedures and have an eye for detail.

No experience is necessary as there is a full training package provided that you will be supported to complete.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
