Applications are invited for a Ultrasound Clinical Lead post on a permanent basis.
As lead specialist for a specific clinical area/speciality for the Trust Ultrasound service, to ensure there is adequate service provision in place at all times. Plan the Ultrasound service to meet the demands of the Trust moving staff between trust sites where required. As the lead Sonographer for your area ensure the ultrasound team provide an efficient and high quality ultrasound imaging service, whilst dealing with patients in a caring professional manner. The Clinical Lead Sonographer will undertake a lead role for all elements of the service, e.g. education, training, governance, policy review and development.

This will cover staff and services at Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Furness General Hospital and Westmorland General Hospital.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and hardworking individual with knowledge and experience within the Ultrasound Service to lead our teams as the Head of Department. In this key role you will lead the team across University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust.
We are looking for applicants to have an interest in all aspects of obstetric and non-obstetric ultrasound with an ability to develop skills in new technology. To liaise with other departments/wards within the hospital and various external sources in order to provide a quality service to patients and clinicians. To effectively liaise with all disciplines of staff within the radiology department giving support and advice where necessary. To take responsibility for Governance issues within ultrasound and report clinical and non-clinical incidents in line with Trust and departmental risk management policies.
As the lead specialist for an area of the Ultrasound service work closely with the Departmental and Divisional Management team in developing an efficient and responsive service. In conjunction with the Heads of Department, Imaging Services Manager and Clinical Lead develop a strategy for the continuing delivery of an effective Ultrasound across all sites of the trust. To manage a range of Sonographers, students and assistant staff in both the delivery of the service and their individual development needs.
About us
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
