We have an exciting opportunity within our inpatient physiotherapy team here at Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

We are looking for a caring, experienced, creative and dynamic physiotherapist to fulfil the role of specialist band 6 physiotherapist within the area of paediatrics.

This role will cover a range of paediatric services including the following: Inpatient and outpatient respiratory, MSK and orthopaedics, neonatal cover under the direction of the advanced band 7 physiotherapist and complex neuro, pain and functional patients.

The role will be supervised and supported by an experienced and highly skilled advanced physiotherapist within paediatrics. Training will be available from the band 7 and from the wider MDT.

This post is based at RLI but will include elements of community and cross bay cover and outreach.

Main duties of the job

When appropriate the role will include the provision of clinical training and support for other physiotherapists within the team and to take an active part in In-Service Training and external education in line with Continual Professional Development (CPD) Care Group Guidelines, to maintain standards of care in line with evidence based practice. To disseminate information from training attended as required.

The role will also include the support and cover of acute and rehabilitation adult inpatient services. The details of this are yet to be confirmed and will be determined by service needs.

It is part of the role to be a full and active participant on over night On-call and respiratory weekend services. Acute respiratory experience is essential for this role.

We are looking for an individual that has an interest in paediatrics with a passion to develop their skills. We are looking for an individual who is child focused, holistic and caring.

Communication skills and MDT working experience are essential.

The individual needs to be able to respond well to difficult situations, have an awareness of safeguarding, be hardworking and have a problem solving approach.

The individual will be responsible for their own clinical record keeping, including hand-written and electronic data recording, in accordance with Trust, Care Group and Chartered Society of Physiotherapists standards.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
