Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic dietitian to join our friendly and supportive team based at Furness General Hospital. The post would be ideally suited to an experienced Band 5 Dietitian looking to expand their skills and gain experience in both inpatient and outpatient work.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work as part of a small team, with the support of experienced dietitians. The post covers a range of inpatient work including medical, surgical, orthopaedics, oncology and stroke management as well as outpatient clinics. As such you will gain experience in a wide range of clinical areas such as nutrition support, enteral feeding and gastroenterology. Opportunities to gain experience in dietetic specialist areas will be supported where appropriate.

The department is approved for training both '2' and '3' placement dietetic students. We have excellent IT facilities and are committed to personal development and training.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow in Furness, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Barrow in Furness is a coastal town in Cumbria very close to the Lake District National Park. The area has miles of wild and diverse coastline to explore with views of Morecambe Bay and the nearby Lakeland fells, whilst still having easy access to the main cities in the UK through road and rail link.
