Are you an experienced Registered Nurse currently working at Clinical Leader level or a Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years post registration experience looking to move into a leadership role? If so, we would like to hear from you.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team on the Lancaster Suite which provides care to acutely unwell patients. The ward specialises in Gastroenterology, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Haematology & Oncology.

This is a permanent, full time position

Main duties of the job

This post will help you to develop leadership skills through providing leadership, support and development to staff at ward level. The post holder will assist the ward manager in ensuring high quality safe patient care is delivered and maintained and ensuring good clinical governance in embedded at ward level.

The Medicine Care Group is committed to appraisal, to support continuous education and professional development. You will be required to participate in providing 24 hour cover on a rotational basis.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our community services for adults are provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.

Education and qualifications

Essential

  • 1st level registered nurse
  • Recent post basic clinical qualification in relevant clinical area
  • Mentoring / assessing qualification or Teaching qualification eg City & Guilds, Professional Trainers Certificate

Desirable

  • Recent leadership development or willingness to work towards a leadership qualification
  • ECDL or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Recent relevant experience at senior level
  • Evidence of clinical competence
  • Able to assume a lead clinical role as appropriate
  • Understanding of the setting and monitoring of standards
  • Evidence of teaching and developing staff
  • Able to work as a member of the multidisciplinary clinical team
