Job summary
The post holder will be a key member of the clinical research team across the TVRA. Working closely with the senior delivery team across multiple specialties--primarily within Cardiovascular--they will contribute directly to the successful delivery of an expanding research portfolio at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The role also involves supporting research within Cardiothoracic services and collaborating with the wider multidisciplinary team to coordinate clinical studies. The post holder will ensure compliance with local, national, and international research regulations, while demonstrating a strong commitment to NHS values and the NHS Constitution.
Main duties of the job
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our clinical research team within the Tees Valley Research Alliance (TVRA). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to a growing portfolio of Cardiovascular and Cardiothoracic research studies, working alongside experienced clinicians, research nurses, and multidisciplinary teams.
As a key member of the research delivery team, you will support the coordination and conduct of clinical studies, ensuring all activity is carried out to the highest standards and in line with local, national, and international research regulations. You will play an important role in delivering compassionate, high-quality patient care within research settings, developing skills across a range of clinical areas.
Your responsibilities will include:

Identifying and screening potential research participants

Providing clear verbal and written study information

Monitoring participant progress and collecting accurate clinical data

Performing clinical procedures such as patient assessment, venepuncture, and ECGs

Supporting study setup and maintaining high-quality documentation

Uploading and managing data on electronic research databases

Ensuring all research activity complies with ICH Good Clinical Practice (GCP)

Working collaboratively to overcome barriers to recruitment

Contributing positively to a dynamic, diverse, and fast-paced research environment
