Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner Team Leader

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and forward thinking Band 7 Senior Sister Charge Nurse or Senior ODP to lead and shape the future of cardiac care for their team within our 4 advanced cardiac Cath labs at the James Cook University Hospital. The post is a pivotal leadership role for an experienced cardiac nurse or ODP who is passionate about high quality patient care, staff development and service innovation. We are looking for a team leader who will bring energy, vision and strong clinical leadership to an already highly skilled MDT.

Main duties of the job

Provide leadership and management of registered and non-registered staff, students and visitors to the CCL. Deputise for the CCL manager, as required.

Responsible for maintaining and monitoring their advanced-level practice and standards of practice and safe, compassionate care for others.

To be an active member of the multidisciplinary team providing evidence-based care; using high-quality evidence to inform practice, education and improvement.

Model exemplar behaviours. Demonstrate knowledge and skills required to enable reflective practice, self-development and effective learning. Practice civility and a knowledge of human factors in the workplace.

After you complete these six and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities. We also offer a range of additional in-house and externally provided courses and bitesize programmes through our Leadership and Improvement Team.

  • Level 7 healthcare qualification (or working towards) OR Level 7 specialist training
  • Degree / Diploma Nursing (adult) OR Operating Department Practitioner
  • Active Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Registration OR Active Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registration
  • Immediate Life Support (ILS)

Desirable

  • Level 7 post-graduate degree (Masters)

Knolwedge & Skills

Essential

  • Enhanced knowledge of the physiological and psychological needs of cardiology patients.
