Clinical Scientist - GI Physiology

Job summary

The Medical Physics Department of The South Tees NHS Foundation Trust comprises four main sections; Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine, Clinical Measurement and Medical Photography.

The Clinical Measurement Section delivers scientific clinical support and development work for a range of specialties including intraoperative neuromonitoring, intracranial pressure measurement, overnight home sleep studies and UV quality assurance.

The postholder will be part of the Clinical Measurement team andwill be responsible for the delivery of an upper and lower GI physiology service for patients in the Tees Valley. They will perform, interpret, and report on a range of diagnostic tests, ensuring a professional and patient focused service.

  • Qualified Clinical Scientist in GI physiology through the NHS Scientist Training Programme (STP) or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Experience

  • Experience of performing a range of GI investigations on patients.
  • Clinical reporting skills in GI physiology studies.
  • Experience in dealing with ill and/or distressed patients (of all ages) and their relatives including the ability to explain complex test/therapy details to patients in simple terms
  • Experience of reporting GI investigations on patients

Knowledge & Skills

  • Good knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology relating to diseases relevant to specialty areas of practice.
  • Very good knowledge of clinical procedures involved in specialty areas of practice.
