Band 7 Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist OR Band 6 Senior Speech and Language Therapist ENT/Voice disorders (banding dependent on experience)
Fixed term for Maternity Leave cover - until March 2027
25.75 hrs/week (We may be able to consider alternative part-time hours)
Due to maternity leave, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated therapist to join the Speech and Language Therapy team at the James Cook University Hospital as part of the Voice/ ENT service.
Ideally you will have extensive experience of triaging, assessing and treating a wide range of voice disorders including pre and post phonosurgical procedures.
The Directorate of Adult Speech & Language Therapy provides input to a range of specialist areas including Acute Stroke, ENT, Head & Neck Cancer, Maxillo-facial Surgery, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuro-rehabilitation and Neuro-oncology, plus the Regional Spinal Injuries Unit. The Trust also hosts the Middlesbrough MND Care Centre.
Staff have access to excellent facilities for education and development in the STRIVE Academic Centre.
Successful candidate must have access to a vehicle for work purposes to meet the requirements of the role.
Main duties of the job
Experience of working with acute ENT patients for dysphagia is required and dependent on experience this would include tracheostomy management and videofluoroscopy.
Experience in performing and interpreting Flexible Nasendoscopy is desirable, but not essential, and you will have the opportunity to work alongside ENT consultants in the Joint Voice Clinic.
There is also the opportunity to gain experience of assessing and diagnosing laryngeal dystonia within the well-established supra-regional dystonia clinic based at the James Cook University Hospital.
Operational support will be provided by the Operational/ Clinical SLT Lead for Head and Neck Cancer. Peer supervision and support can also be accessed through the close regional network of voice SLT's.
