Senior Physiotherapist

Job summary

To work as a senior Physiotherapist within the Community Therapy team across Hambleton and Richmond, at a highly specialised and advanced level, managing highly complex cases where there may be multiple pathologies

To act as a highly specialised resource and provide advice to other professionals including medical staff, specialist nurses, social workers, and other therapists regarding older people for a wide range of individuals

To be able to act independently to manage a large caseload of community patients with needs which are often highly complex

Undertake specialist assessment in relation to their physical, psychological, social and productivity circumstances and needs

To provide expertise in the role of clinical triage, to ensure appropriate referrals are accepted to the team and are allocated correctly within the team with a clinically appropriate time frame

To be highly competent in time management and respond appropriately to unexpected situations that may arise as part of community working

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the delivery of Physiotherapy assessment and treatment to a high professional standard in accordance with Professional Standards and Code of Ethics laid down by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

To be responsible for maintaining a high standard of therapy services and develop quality improvements appropriate to the needs of the service

To develop and deliver training, supervision and development of band 5, support staff, students and other health and social care workers as appropriate around area of expertise

To act as a clinical mentor to junior members of staff and students

To develop & improve competence in self and acquire new skills and apply to practice in response to the changing needs of the service

To autonomously manage, within appropriate professional guidelines, a caseload of clients with complex needs within their home environment

To respond to identified needs through critical thinking, consideration of a range of options using sound clinical reasoning and professional judgement and communicating these to clients in order to reach a decision, in collaboration with the client (or his representatives) about how to meet those needs.

To provide clinical expertise within own specialist area, with particular expertise in rehabilitation

To work as part of multi disciplinary team, respecting & understanding other professional boundaries

Successful candidate must have access to a vehicle for work purposes to meet the requirements of the role.
